Bella Bah abducted in Conakry, wife says
Guinean activist Bella Bah was abducted from the school where he teaches in Conakry, his wife, Ami Bah, said on Sunday.
Ami Bah said a teacher called her on Saturday afternoon to say her husband had been taken from the school. She told AFP on Sunday that she had received no news of him since then.
A witness interviewed by AFP said men in uniform and balaclavas arrived in pick-up trucks, dragged Bah out and forcibly took him away. Guinean officials had not responded to AFP requests for comment.
Bah’s disappearance came hours after a post in which he criticised Mamadou Saliou Camara, chief imam of the Faisal Grand Mosque. No connection between the post and the reported abduction has been established.
AFP described Bah as known for pointed comments on politics and society in Guinea. Since General Mamadi Doumbouya seized power in a 2021 coup, several political parties have been suspended, protests have been suppressed, and opposition and civil society figures have been arrested, sentenced or forced into exile.

Bella Bah’s whereabouts are unknown.
The identity and affiliation of the men described by the witness have not been established.
Guinean officials had not commented in the supplied material.
No causal link has been established between Bah’s criticism of Mamadou Saliou Camara and the reported abduction.
