Airbus targets higher operating profit by 2029

Airbus said Tuesday it plans to increase profitability and is targeting a roughly 75 percent rise in operating profit by 2029.

The European aircraft manufacturer said it would present its medium-term business strategy and financial outlook to investors and analysts at the Farnborough Air Show. It said it would announce a target of 12 billion to 13 billion euros in adjusted earnings before interest and taxes. Airbus said that would be about three quarters higher than its 2025 operating profit.

Chief executive Guillaume Faury said the company's plan was intended to support profitable growth and create value for customers, employees, partners and shareholders.

Airbus management was also expected to reaffirm the goal of completing a five-billion-euro share buyback programme over three years.

The source item said orders remained solid in both civilian aircraft and defence, and that Airbus's main challenge was increasing production speed. Airbus delivered 351 commercial aircraft in the first half of this year, a 15 percent increase from the same period in 2025.
