Private markets LPs demand AI plans, SS&C survey says
Private markets investors are putting more weight on technology and artificial intelligence when choosing managers, according to a survey published by SS&C Intralinks.
SS&C said the 2027 LP Survey, conducted with Reuters Insights, covered 400 private markets professionals, including 370 limited partners and allocators, in the third quarter of 2026.
The survey found that nearly one-third of respondents would not allocate capital to a manager without a credible AI strategy. It also said 43% of limited partners surveyed were scaling or embedding AI into their operations, and 95% of that group reported measurable value.
SS&C said 62% of respondents reported alternatives portfolios that exceeded expectations. More than 70% said they planned to increase allocations to private credit, while 49% said they preferred managers with less than $500 million in assets under management.
Uncertainty notes
The findings are based on survey responses and do not necessarily represent all private markets investors.
