Klarna rolls out scam-call checker worldwide

Klarna said it has rolled out its in-app Call Status Detection tool globally to help customers check whether a caller claiming to be from the company is genuine.

The finance and payments company said customers can open the Klarna app during a call and check a banner at the top of the screen. A green banner means the call is verified, while an amber banner means Klarna cannot verify the call and the customer should hang up.

Klarna said the feature, first launched in the Nordics in September, is now available in all 26 markets where it operates. It will be enabled by default for iOS users, while Android users will need to turn it on in the app settings.

The company said the feature adds to existing anti-fraud tools including Klarna Inbox, which verifies written communications such as emails, texts and letters.

Nasdaq Verafin estimated that fraudsters stole $579 billion worldwide through scams and bank fraud in 2025.

Uncertainty notes

The company did not provide a market-by-market breakdown of use or fraud prevention results.
