Honduras IMF review clears $120m final tranche
The International Monetary Fund and Honduras have reached an agreement on the final review of the country's bailout programme, clearing the way for a $120 million tranche if the IMF Executive Board approves it in December.
Honduras agreed to a three-year $847 million IMF programme in September 2023. IMF official Emilio Fernandez Corugedo said the programme remained an anchor for macroeconomic stability and reform after a visit to Tegucigalpa.
The IMF said Honduras's economy grew 3.7 percent in the first half of the year and was forecast to moderate to 3.4 percent by year-end. Consumer inflation reached 6.3 percent in September, while international reserves stood at about $11.5 billion in October.
The IMF said priorities include maintaining fiscal discipline while improving social support targeting, strengthening public financial management and maintaining external sector stability. Honduras has $92 million in previous IMF debts due by 2027.
Uncertainty notes
The $120 million release still requires approval by the IMF Executive Board.
