Zelensky asks EU for extra €70bn for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked European Union leaders on Friday to provide Kyiv with an extra 70 billion euros, or $79 billion, in funding next year to help it keep fighting Russia.

In a speech at an EU summit in Brussels, Zelensky said the war would cost 155 billion euros next year.

He asked EU leaders to find at least 70 billion euros more for defence, weapons and what he called Ukraine's resilience.
