Vietnam GDP growth hits 9.95% in third quarter

Vietnam’s economy grew 9.95 percent in the July-September quarter, up from 8.81 percent in the previous three months and the fastest quarterly pace in four years, according to government data.

The National Statistics Office said growth for the first nine months of 2026 was 9.01 percent, the fastest for that period in 15 years.

Exports rose 24.5 percent year on year, while imports rose 36.7 percent.

Vietnam recorded eight percent annual growth last year. The Asian Development Bank late last month raised its forecast for Vietnam’s 2026 annual gross domestic product growth to 7.8 percent from 7.2 percent, citing continued manufacturing expansion, domestic consumption and foreign direct investment. It warned that weaker global demand and geopolitical uncertainty could weigh on growth.

In September, FTSE Russell upgraded Vietnam’s stock market to secondary emerging market status.

Uncertainty notes

Future growth forecasts remain subject to risks including global demand and geopolitical uncertainty, according to the Asian Development Bank.
