Venezuela's Delcy Rodriguez travels to FAO meeting

Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez traveled to Italy for a UN Food and Agriculture Organization meeting, Venezuelan state television showed Sunday.

State TV showed footage of Rodriguez arriving in Rome, where the FAO is headquartered. The trip is Rodriguez's second visit to Europe since taking power after the capture of former president Nicolas Maduro by US forces in January.

Rodriguez, who was Maduro's vice president, has ruled under deep pressure from Washington since his ouster. US President Donald Trump has expressed satisfaction with her cooperation, particularly on opening access to Venezuela's oil sector, and the two met last month on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The trip comes as Venezuela faces political and economic crises and continues to recover from twin earthquakes in June.
