Ukraine team to meet Trump envoys in US, Zelensky says
Ukraine’s negotiating team is due to meet US President Donald Trump’s envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in the United States on Friday and Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Thursday.
Zelensky said the talks were expected to last two days and that Kyiv was counting on a European team to join Ukraine’s negotiating group.
He said Kyrylo Budanov, Rustem Umerov, Sergiy Kyslytsya and David Arakhamia would take part.
US-led efforts to end the Ukraine war have been largely stalled. Zelensky said last week that the United States wanted to revive the effort by trying to broker a new round of talks with Ukraine and Russia by the end of October.
The Kremlin said last month that three-way talks on ending the war could take place in October. Previous rounds of talks have not produced tangible progress, with Moscow unwilling to drop its conditions to end the fighting.
