Ukraine launches organ delivery by drone for transplants
Ukraine's health ministry said it is launching an experimental project to deliver organs for transplant by drone.
The ministry said its Heart Institute has three specialised drones that can cover up to 700 kilometres. It said drone transport could help speed up delivery of critical organs, which can be preserved for only a few hours.
Ukraine has expanded drone production during its war with Russia, including long-range craft and small first-person-view devices. On the front line, Ukraine has used drones and remote-controlled robots for medical resupply and to recover wounded soldiers from areas under fire.
Uncertainty notes
The ministry did not give a start date, route list or number of planned deliveries in the supplied material.
