UK court to quash five Libor convictions, lawyers say
A London court will quash the criminal convictions of five former Barclays traders for manipulating Libor interest rate benchmarks and the euro equivalent Euribor, their lawyers said Wednesday.
The Court of Appeal is due to formally hand down the decision at 2:00 pm in London.
The move follows a 2025 Supreme Court ruling that quashed the convictions of two other former traders.
The manipulation of the London Inter-Bank Offered Rate and Euribor occurred in the run-up to and after the 2008 global financial crisis.
