Five shallow earthquakes rattled southern Turkey on Sunday and were felt in parts of northern Syria, but authorities reported no injuries or damage.
Turkey's AFAD disaster relief agency said four quakes struck Saimbeyli district in Adana province: magnitude 4.8 at 2:19 p.m., magnitude 4.9 at 2:36 p.m., magnitude 4.4 at 7:00 p.m. and magnitude 4.3 at 8:28 p.m.
AFAD said a magnitude 5.2 quake also hit Sumbas district, about 80 kilometres farther south, at 2:43 p.m. The agency said the tremors caused "no adverse situation".
Syria's national earthquake centre said all five quakes were felt in parts of northern Syria, without mentioning injuries or damage.
The area is about 150 kilometres from the epicentre of two major earthquakes in February 2023 that killed at least 53,000 people in Turkey and around 6,000 in Syria. Turkey is crossed by several geological fault lines that have caused past disasters.
