TotalEnergies profit hits record $8.3bn on oil prices

TotalEnergies said its net profit reached a record $8.3 billion in the third quarter as high oil and gas prices lifted the French energy group’s results.

Profit for the July-to-September period rose from $5.4 billion in the preceding three months, the company said Thursday.

Chief executive Patrick Pouyanne said TotalEnergies had benefited from high refining margins, a strong gas market, its integrated business model and geographic diversification.

The company said the profit increase would be reflected in a higher dividend for shareholders. Its board confirmed a third interim dividend of 0.90 euros per share for 2026, up 5.9 percent from 2025.

TotalEnergies also said it would carry out $2.5 billion in share buybacks for cancellation for the fourth quarter and the first quarter of 2027, and would launch a capital increase reserved for employees with a 20 percent discount on the share price.
