Texas executes Jamaal Howard by lethal injection

Texas executed Jamaal Howard by lethal injection on Wednesday, officials said, in the first US execution carried out since Christa Pike survived a botched execution in Tennessee one week earlier.

Howard, 46, had been sentenced to death for killing a store clerk during a 2000 robbery.

His execution was the 30th to take place in the United States so far this year.
