Tesla shares jump after deliveries beat forecasts
Tesla shares rose in early trading Friday after the company reported third-quarter global vehicle deliveries that fell from a year earlier but exceeded most leading estimates.
Elon Musk's electric vehicle company said it delivered 486,532 vehicles in the quarter, 2 percent below the year-earlier level. Tesla shares rose 4.6 percent in early trading.
JPMorgan Chase analysts had projected deliveries of 482,000. They cited July and August data showing higher year-on-year sales in Europe and lower sales in the United States and China.
Tesla's figures were global and did not break out US sales. A decline had been expected after US electric vehicle sales surged in the third quarter of last year before the September 30, 2025 expiration of an electric vehicle tax credit, which was later eliminated under legislation backed by President Donald Trump.
Uncertainty notes
The Tesla figures did not specify how many vehicles were delivered in individual countries or regions.
