Tehran billboards mock Trump in wartime media push

Tehran’s government-sponsored wartime billboards are using images of US President Donald Trump, American drones and US warships to promote Iran’s message during its war with the United States and Israel.

Designers' House, a studio working under one of Iran’s biggest state-run media conglomerates, produced a large Valiasr Square mural showing Trump’s mouth muzzled by the Strait of Hormuz and the words “At the breaking point.” Mostafa Kafaei, who manages the studio, said the team monitors news, develops ideas and can turn urgent posters around in a few days.

Other recent Tehran billboards show an Iranian soldier stepping on a US underwater drone, Trump trapped in a magician’s box, and Trump underwater reaching for a dollar bill beside the words “GREAT VICTORY! Strait of Hormuz.”

The billboards are sponsored by the government and displayed at prominent sites in Tehran. Kafaei said his team uses Photoshop and artificial intelligence tools as part of production.

Residents quoted by AFP said the signs can draw attention to current events, though one said many people are struggling to survive and may not follow the news closely.

The campaign comes during a war that began in late February with US-Israeli strikes on Iran. Iran has blockaded commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while the US military has maintained a counterblockade of Iranian ports.

Uncertainty notes

The military claims and victory messages implied by some billboard slogans are propaganda claims and are not independently established in the item.
The item includes only a small number of resident reactions and does not establish broader public opinion in Tehran.
