Sweden to send Patriot air defence to Poland hub
Sweden said on Tuesday it would send its Patriot air defence system and about 100 troops to Poland to protect NATO's logistics hub in Rzeszow, a base used for military and civilian support for Ukraine.
The Swedish Armed Forces announced the deployment. Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said the contribution was intended to ensure support for Ukraine.
The contingent is due to arrive in early December and take over responsibility from the Netherlands.
Sweden joined NATO in March 2024 after abandoning two centuries of military non-alignment following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Last year, Sweden began sending Gripen fighter jets for a NATO mission policing Poland's airspace.
