Stockholm Royal Palace: police shoot armed man
Swedish police said officers shot an armed man outside the Royal Palace in central Stockholm on Tuesday after reports of a disruptive person carrying a weapon.
Police said responding officers opened fire on the man. Stockholm police spokeswoman Susanna Rinaldo told AFP that the man was hit and taken to hospital.
Rinaldo said his injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening. She declined to specify the type of weapon involved.
Police said the operation was still ongoing, but there was no danger to the public.
Swedish newspaper Expressen reported that the man approached palace guards armed with a knife and asked to be shot.
