Sberbank data centre hit by drone in Russia
A drone hit a data centre belonging to Russia's state-owned lender Sberbank in the southern city of Balakovo, TASS quoted Sberbank deputy chairman Alexander Vedyakhin as saying Wednesday.
Vedyakhin said all Sberbank systems and services were operating normally. Sberbank is Russia's largest bank by assets and number of clients.
The region's governor, Roman Busargin, said on social media early Wednesday that a Ukrainian drone strike on Balakovo killed one person. Ukraine made no immediate comment.
Russia's defence ministry said Ukraine fired more than 900 drones at Russia and the annexed Crimean peninsula overnight.
Yandex, Russia's largest technology company, has reported at least three drone strikes on its data centres since the start of the month. Moscow and Kyiv have intensified long-range strikes in recent months, including Russian strikes on Ukrainian data centres and logistics hubs.
