Saudi says Houthi missile intercepted in Eastern Province

The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen's Houthis said Thursday that its air defences intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired toward Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province.

Coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki wrote on X that the missile was launched by the Houthi militia. The coalition did not report casualties, damage or the exact location of the interception.

Saudi Arabia has faced repeated attacks this month, including a strike on Riyadh's international airport that was the kingdom's deadliest in years.

The Houthis said this week they had targeted the Ras Tanura refinery in the oil-rich Eastern Province with a ballistic missile. Tehran denied involvement in Houthi attacks after Saudi Arabia accused Iran of encouraging the group's escalation against the kingdom.

Fighting in Yemen reignited in July after an uneasy four-year truce, months into the US-Iran conflict that has deepened the wider regional crisis.
