Saudi league postpones Ronaldo match after Houthi attacks

The Saudi Pro League has postponed three matchweek nine fixtures, including Al Ahli's match against Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr, after an escalation in Saudi Arabia's war with Yemen's Houthis.

The league said the fixtures were moved for “logistical considerations” and to take account of the mandatory minimum rest period between matches.

Al Hilal's match against Al Riyadh and Al Ittihad's match against Al Shabab have been rescheduled for December 19. Al Ahli's match against Al Nassr has been moved to March 6, 2027.

The league said the other matchweek nine fixtures would be played as previously scheduled.

On Monday, Al Nassr's AFC Champions League match against Uzbek side Neftchi Fergana in Riyadh was delayed by an hour after the Saudi-led coalition announced that it had intercepted a missile fired by the Houthis towards the Saudi capital.

Missile strikes have hit airports and energy facilities across Saudi Arabia in recent days. The latest round of fighting was triggered by Houthi strikes on Riyadh's international airport at the weekend that left 13 people dead and suspended operations, according to the supplied account.

Uncertainty notes

The league did not give further operational details beyond logistical considerations and rest-period requirements.
The future schedule of other Saudi sporting events may depend on the security situation.
