Anthony Vaccarello to leave Saint Laurent after decade
Anthony Vaccarello will leave Saint Laurent after a decade as the French fashion house's chief designer, parent company Kering said.
Kering did not give a reason for the departure. It said Saint Laurent would announce its new creative leadership soon.
The company said Vaccarello, 44, had played a key role in developing Saint Laurent and strengthening its identity and influence across fashion and culture. Kering chief executive Luca de Meo said Vaccarello had contributed to the influence of one of France's major couture houses as the brand entered a new chapter.
Vaccarello joined Saint Laurent in 2016, replacing Hedi Slimane. During his tenure, the group's revenues tripled and reached $3.2 billion, or 2.8 billion euros, in 2023 before declining in recent years after the post-Covid luxury boom slowed.
His final show for Saint Laurent was held in Paris on September 29 in front of the Eiffel Tower. It featured models in mostly gold outfits and was widely praised, including by the New York Times, which called it a "24-karat unofficial goodbye".
Vaccarello's Saint Laurent became associated with modern fabrics, including metallic looks, and with younger streetwear influences. Celebrity supporters included Kate Moss, Dua Lipa, Zoe Saldana and Hailey Bieber.
During his time at the brand, Saint Laurent also moved into film production, co-producing several movies including Jacques Audiard's musical "Emilia Perez".
