Rubio calls Iceland critical security outpost
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Iceland a "critical outpost" for security Tuesday during a visit to Reykjavik, part of a three-nation tour aimed at building influence in the Arctic.
Rubio said at a press conference that Iceland had long served as "a critical outpost for monitoring clandestine behavior and deterring our adversaries" from entering the sovereign territory of Iceland and mutual allies.
The visit to Iceland was the first stop of a four-day European tour.
