Pythia Labs launches AI antibody design platform

Pythia Labs said it has launched as a biotechnology company developing AI models for therapeutic discovery, alongside a bioRxiv preprint introducing Pythia-1, an all-atom generative model for antibody design.

The company said its platform is designed to create full-length human antibodies against hard-to-drug targets, including G protein-coupled receptors, or GPCRs.

Pythia said its proof-of-concept study evaluated full-length human IgGs designed from scratch across 22 therapeutic targets. After one computational design round and experimental screening of about 48 candidates per target, the company said the study identified antibodies with single-digit nanomolar affinities for soluble proteins and single-digit nanomolar cell-binding EC50 values for GPCRs.

The company also said cell-based functional assays showed both GPCR agonist and antagonist activity, including single-digit nanomolar inhibitory potency against multiple GPCRs.

Pythia said it is sharing complete sequences of lead antibodies from the study to support independent validation and further research.

Uncertainty notes

Independent validation of the claimed antibody results is not established in the announcement.
The announcement does not state a timetable for therapeutic development or clinical testing.
