Ocarina of Time remake brings Zelda to Switch 2
Nintendo is remaking The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for its Switch 2 console, with the updated version due for release on November 5.
The remake adds richer environments, upgraded textures and more detailed character models. It also gives players freer camera control, lets Link jump with a button press, adds full voice acting in some scenes and features a newly orchestrated soundtrack.
Nintendo has also added voice recognition, allowing players to hum ocarina melodies to trigger some in-game actions.
The original Ocarina of Time was released in 1998 on the Nintendo 64 and was the fifth game in the Zelda franchise. It follows Link as he fights Ganondorf and tries to save Princess Zelda, with a story that moves between Link’s childhood and adulthood.
The remake is part of Zelda’s 40th anniversary celebrations, which also include a global concert tour and a live-action film planned for next spring.
