Novaya Gazeta closure part of Russia war drive, Muratov says
Dmitry Muratov, founder and former editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta, said Friday that the closure of the Russian independent newspaper was part of Russia's “giant military campaign” in Ukraine.
Muratov, a Nobel Prize winner, said the paper was “killed” because “we are staunch opponents of war in any form.” He also described the move as part of “the dismantling of Russia's constitution.”
The closure of Novaya Gazeta, described as Russia's flagship independent newspaper, was announced Friday.
