Myanmar airstrike kills 11 civilians, rebel says
A rebel fighter said a Myanmar military airstrike killed 11 people in a village in central Myanmar on Friday, including six women and two children.
Bo Paw, a member of the People's Defence Forces, said the strike hit PDF-controlled territory in Yesagyo township, southwest of Mandalay, at about 2:00 p.m. on Friday. He said one of the children killed was one year old.
A witness who withheld his name for security reasons said three roadside houses were destroyed where the bomb hit, and that the dead included an 11-year-old student riding a bicycle. Myanmar's military could not be reached for comment.
Myanmar has been in civil war since the 2021 military coup. Conflict monitor ACLED says more than 100,000 people have been killed since the war began.
Uncertainty notes
The casualty figure and details of the strike are attributed to a rebel fighter and a witness.
