Mexico prison brawl kills 10 in Sinaloa state
Ten people were killed and 16 inmates were injured in a prison brawl in Mexico's northwestern Sinaloa state on Thursday, state security officials said.
Sinaloa's Public Security Secretariat said on X that a brawl occurred inside the prison facilities, but did not give details on what caused the violence.
Sinaloa Public Security Secretary Sinuhe Tellez said in a video posted on social media that nine inmates and a minor who was visiting the prison died.
Security forces restored control at the prison. An AFP reporter saw an armored vehicle and ambulances arrive at the site.
Sinaloa has been affected by violence involving rival factions of the Sinaloa drug trafficking cartel. The US State Department advises Americans not to travel to the state because of security concerns.

Officials did not provide details on what caused the brawl.
