Houthis say Saudi strike kills 12 in Yemen homes

Yemen’s Houthis said Thursday that a Saudi strike on homes in the western province of Taiz killed 12 people and critically injured three others.

The Houthi health ministry said the reported strike hit homes belonging to the families of Ibrahim Saeed Mohammed Ahmed Al-Qouz and Al-Raabi Saeed Mohammed Ahmed Al-Qouz in Al-Barah, in Maqbana district. It described the toll as initial.

The Houthis and Yemen’s Saudi-backed, internationally recognised government have exchanged daily attacks since a years-long truce fell apart over the summer.

The United Nations says more than 1,600 people have been killed in Yemen since hostilities resumed, and more than 275,000 people have been displaced.

On Wednesday, the Houthis said Saudi strikes on a petrol station and market killed at least 14 people. The group also targeted the airport in the government stronghold of Aden, wounding civilians.
