Houthis claim Riyadh airport attack before Tehran talks
Yemen's Houthis claimed another attack on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport before senior Saudi, Turkish and Pakistani officials were due to meet Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday.
Fresh explosions were heard in Riyadh overnight, and Saudi authorities sent text messages warning residents of a hostile aerial threat. The airport has been largely closed since an attack earlier this month killed 13 people and wounded more than 300.
Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman was among the delegations travelling to Tehran. Iranian state TV said Iran's security chief Mohsen Rezaei would take part, along with Pakistani army chief General Asim Munir and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin.
The meeting follows warnings from the United States, Iran and Israel that hostilities could resume. Saudi Arabia has been deeply involved in renewed fighting against the Iran-allied Houthis since July.
The Saudi-led coalition said on Sunday it struck missile launchers and storage facilities in Yemen. The Houthis said they had again targeted Riyadh's main airport.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said a Qatari delegation visited Tehran on Sunday as neighbouring countries tried to put forward initiatives amid what he called serious regional tensions.
