Hitachi survey says 97% use physical AI in industry
Hitachi said a survey of more than 200 global industrial decision-makers found that 97% of respondents use physical AI in industrial use cases in some capacity.
The company released the survey-based report, titled “Beyond the Pilot: Industry’s Physical AI Progression”, on Thursday. It said respondents came from organisations in mission-critical sectors including energy, manufacturing, transportation and logistics.
Hitachi said only 8% of respondents reported that their operational deployments had reached the continuous optimization and innovation stage. It said limited AI expertise and system integration challenges were the top barriers to adoption.
The company said 87% of respondents associated delaying adoption with material risk, while 75% agreed that leadership actively supports AI initiatives. It said only 38% believed they were adequately resourced for adoption.
Hitachi said AI and machine learning ranked as the largest internal talent gap, cited by 49% of respondents.
Uncertainty notes
The survey findings are based on responses from decision-makers and are not independently verified in the supplied material.
Some data referenced in the announcement applies only to manufacturing respondents.
