Google opens AI models to 200 European researchers
Google said Wednesday it will open its latest artificial intelligence models to 200 European researchers, in a programme announced at an AI summit in Dublin.
The researchers were chosen by the European Commission under its Resource for AI Science in Europe, or RAISE, scheme, Google said. They will receive access to Google DeepMind and Google Cloud tools including AlphaFold 3, WeatherNext, AlphaGenome, AlphaEvolve and AlphaEarth Foundations.
Google said the effort would deliver compute power and tools directly to research teams to speed European innovation and support scientific competitiveness.
AlphaFold 3 specialises in research on proteins, while WeatherNext specialises in meteorological forecasts.
The announcement comes as demands for greater AI regulation have increased after a series of security incidents.
Uncertainty notes
The announcement does not specify when access to the AI models will begin.
