Erie, Pennsylvania, shooting kills eight, outlet says
A man was reported to have shot and killed eight people, including two children, at a home in Erie, Pennsylvania, before apparently taking his own life, local outlet Erie News Now said.
The outlet said police were called at about 5:00 p.m. Friday to reports of shots fired and found two women dead in the street. It reported that the gunman barricaded himself inside the home as police surrounded the building and ordered him to come out.
More gunshots were heard during the standoff, Erie News Now reported. When police later entered the home, they found several more victims, including the two children, and the suspected shooter with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the outlet said, citing police.
The Erie Police Department declined to comment or confirm the details when contacted by AFP. The mayor was expected to hold a press conference Saturday afternoon.
