Elon Musk says US children will get SpaceX share

Elon Musk said Monday that he would give one SpaceX share to every child in the United States next year, without explaining how the plan would work.

“Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America,” Musk wrote on X. He added: “This will be the first of many.”

There are about 73 million children under 18 in the United States, according to 2024 data from the US Census Bureau. Forbes says Musk owns 38 percent of SpaceX.

SpaceX raised $85.7 billion in June in what was described as the largest initial public offering in history. Its Starship megarocket reached orbit for the first time in September.
