Elliptic launches AI agent risk certification

Elliptic said it has launched a free certification for professionals governing AI agents in on-chain risk and financial crime compliance.

The company said the Certified Agentic On-Chain Risk Practitioner Foundation Level is open to anyone in the industry and is offered through the Elliptic Institute.

Elliptic said the course covers core terms such as model, generative model and agent, human oversight positions, regulatory sources and the responsibilities of compliance professionals when setting boundaries for AI agents and handling decisions those agents cannot close.

The company cited research of 318 senior risk, compliance and financial crime professionals in financial services and crypto-native organisations across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. It said 92% would consider sending staff for external certification in agentic AI risk governance, while 16% were very confident their team currently had the skills to govern an AI agent. Elliptic said 38% were not confident at all or had no capability yet.

Elliptic chief executive Simone Maini said people in the industry were being asked to sign off on agents they had not been formally trained to oversee.
