Elizabeth Holmes documentary shows days before prison

Elizabeth Holmes, the convicted founder of Theranos, is the focus of a new documentary filmed during the 34 days before she reported to prison, with the film scheduled for release in US theaters on October 16.

“You Can See Everything,” directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, follows Holmes at home in California with partner Billy Evans and their two children before her incarceration for fraud and conspiracy linked to Theranos.

Theranos had claimed its technology could run medical tests from a few drops of blood, attracting investors including Henry Kissinger, Carlos Slim and Rupert Murdoch before the company collapsed. Holmes was sentenced in 2022 to more than 11 years in prison.

Fielder and Oppenheim said Holmes initiated talks with A24 about documenting her daily life and invited them into her home after meetings with the filmmakers. They said Holmes and Evans have not seen the finished film. Holmes remains in prison.

At a Los Angeles screening, the directors described the filming as difficult and uncomfortable at times. Fielder said he was still unsure what he experienced during the project and hoped audiences could help him understand it.
