Crimea water and power cut after drone attack
Water and power supplies were restricted in Russian-occupied Crimea on Saturday after what Moscow-installed authorities described as a Ukrainian drone attack on main power grids outside the peninsula.
Sergei Aksyonov, the Moscow-installed head of Crimea, said restrictions on electricity and water had been introduced after an “enemy attack using a drone”. He did not say how many households were affected. Crimea has more than 2.5 million residents.
Russia's defence ministry said it shot down 616 Ukrainian drones overnight across more than 20 Russian regions. Local Russian authorities said several people were wounded by falling drone debris, which also started fires.
Ilya Sukhikh, the mayor of Togliatti on the Volga river in southeastern Russia, said another drone barrage damaged industrial infrastructure in the city.
Ukraine's air force said Russia launched at least 126 drones at Ukraine overnight, of which 101 were shot down. Ukrainian emergency services said two people were wounded in Kyiv.
Uncertainty notes
The number of Crimea households affected by the water and power restrictions was not specified.
The full extent of damage in Crimea and Togliatti was not supplied.
