Chanel shows birdlife-inspired collection in Paris
Chanel artistic director Matthieu Blazy used birdlife and Coco Chanel's life as themes for the fashion house's Paris show on Monday, one year after his first collection for the brand.
The Spring-Summer 2027 ready-to-wear display at the Grand Palais featured Chanel tweeds, modern flourishes and knee-length skirts. Giant illuminated origami cranes hung above the venue.
Blazy said in show notes that the collection was about Gabrielle Chanel's layered stories and linked her freedom to a bird. Pedro Pascal, Nicole Kidman, Dua Lipa and John Malkovich were among the guests.
Bloomberg reported that Chanel's revenue rose by about 16 percent in the first half of this year compared with the same period of 2025.
Other Paris Womenswear Fashion Week shows on Monday included Zimmermann's butterfly-themed Spring-Summer collection and Gabriela Hearst's collection inspired by Afghan women's textile traditions. The week is due to close Tuesday with shows including Louis Vuitton.
