California Halloween store shooting kills one, wounds six

A shooting at a Spirit Halloween store in Fairfield, northern California, killed one person and wounded six others shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday, police said.

Fairfield Police Chief Dan Marshall said the six wounded people were taken to hospital and at least three were in critical condition.

Marshall said late Friday that investigators had not identified the suspect or suspects and that the crime scene and investigation remained active.

The shooting happened at the Solano Town Center mall, about 47 miles northeast of San Francisco, hours before Halloween began in the United States. Marshall said no areas outside the mall were on lockdown.
