Anthropic revenue rose to $16.8B, FT and Bloomberg say

Anthropic told investors that its revenue rose about 50% to $16.8 billion in the September quarter, the Financial Times and Bloomberg reported, citing details from a private meeting at the AI company's San Francisco headquarters on Wednesday.

The San Francisco-based maker of Claude also told investors it was profitable on an adjusted basis over the previous six months, the outlets reported. The presentation said Anthropic was free-cash-flow positive and had an adjusted operating margin of 11% in the third quarter, with the figures calculated on an adjusted basis that excludes some costs.

The financial update comes as Anthropic moves toward a possible initial public offering.

The New York Times reported that Anthropic's annualized revenue reached $65 billion earlier this year and could reach $100 billion by the end of 2026. Axios reported last week that OpenAI's annualized revenue was $50 billion, but direct comparisons are difficult because the companies use different methods to calculate annualized revenue.
