Airbus wins 75 A320neo order from ACG

Airbus said on Friday that Aviation Capital Group ordered 75 A320neo jets, in what the leasing company called the largest order in its nearly 40-year history.

Tokyo Century, ACG's Japanese parent company, said the planes have a total list price of nearly $12 billion, though aircraft makers usually offer discounts for large orders.

Airbus said the deal brings ACG's Airbus fleet to 190 planes. ACG also ordered 50 Boeing 737 MAX jets earlier this year.

ACG chief executive Thomas Baker said the order showed confidence in the long-term future of air travel.

Tokyo Century said demand for aircraft operating leases is expected to rise as passenger traffic grows and airlines replace existing fleets with next-generation aircraft. Airbus says the A320neo is 20 percent more fuel efficient than previous A320s.

Uncertainty notes

The final sale price was not disclosed.
