41,000 DHS employee names leaked, nonprofit says

A nonprofit news leak group said Wednesday that it published data on more than 41,000 employees of the US Department of Homeland Security, including people working on President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement efforts.

Distributed Denial of Secrets said it obtained the sensitive information from a hacktivist group known as the Department of Peace. It said the group created a tool called Icepick that allows detailed searches of employee names, offices and assignments.

DDOS said the data covers multiple DHS agencies, including US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. DDOS cofounder Emma Best said the data identifies officials involved in covert and undercover operations, the government's pursuit of leakers and deportation programs.

The disclosure comes as DHS and ICE remain central to Trump's immigration crackdown. The Migration Policy Institute said in a fact sheet that DHS, including ICE, completed about 980,000 deportations in the first 18 months of Trump's second presidential term.

Uncertainty notes

The contents, scope and origin of the dataset are attributed to Distributed Denial of Secrets and are not independently verified in the supplied material.
No response from DHS or ICE is included in the supplied material.
