Zheng Qinwen donates $150,000 after Nepal-Tibet floods

China's Olympic tennis champion Zheng Qinwen has donated one million yuan, about $150,000, to relief efforts after deadly flash floods and landslides on the China-Nepal border, a social media account associated with the China Charity Federation said.

The account said Zheng would keep monitoring the relief effort and expressed hopes that people in the disaster zone could overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes.

More than 900 people have been confirmed dead and nearly 4,500 are missing after glacial floods swept down from the border between China's Tibet region and Nepal last week.

Zheng, 23, won the women's singles gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She is currently competing at the US Open.
