Witkoff says Russia and Ukraine need compromises
US envoy Steve Witkoff said Russia and Ukraine both need to make compromises to end more than four years of war, after holding talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“It's going to take both sides to make some compromises and narrow the issues between them and we think we have the ingredients to get to that place,” Witkoff said after talks with Zelensky on his first trip to Kyiv.
“It is very difficult but we are committed, we care and we hope all of that leads to a successful peaceful diplomatic resolution,” he said.
