Venezuela signs oil and gas accords with Suriname

Venezuela's interim leader Delcy Rodriguez signed cooperation agreements with Surinamese President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons on Friday in Paramaribo, including a deal to provide training for Suriname's oil and gas industry professionals.

Rodriguez said Venezuela was making its experience in oil and gas exploration and production available to help train Suriname's industry. Suriname, a country of 600,000 people, recently announced the discovery of major oil and gas deposits.

The two leaders also agreed to reopen bilateral air routes and allow 200 Venezuelan fishermen to operate in the Atlantic corridor with Suriname.
