30-year US Treasury yield hits highest since 2007
The yield on the 30-year US Treasury bond climbed to 5.35% on Thursday, its highest level since 2007, after US producer price data showed inflation accelerated in August.
The Department of Labor said the Producer Price Index rose 0.4% from July and 5.4% from a year earlier. The latest increase was driven by energy prices, while oil prices remained elevated.
The move extended pressure in the US bond market, where higher yields raise long-term borrowing costs. The data was released as the US war with Iran continued.
