Ukraine says Russia is attacking its railways
Ukraine's state railway said Sunday that Russia was carrying out a “systemic” attack on the country's rail network, warning of possible evacuations and delays.
The railway service said on social media that its monitoring centre and staff were on high alert across the country. It said services were being rerouted in the central Dnipro region.
The warning came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Moscow had hit rail infrastructure, including a train by the Polish border.
Uncertainty notes
The extent of damage to the railway network was not specified.
No casualty figures from the reported railway attacks were provided.
The possible evacuations and delays were warnings, not confirmed completed evacuations.
