Turkish Airlines to buy up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets
Turkish Airlines said Wednesday it had decided to buy up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets, with deliveries scheduled between 2033 and 2037.
The Turkish national carrier said the plan includes a firm order for 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and an option for 50 more.
The announcement came while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in New York, a day after he met US President Donald Trump alongside Middle Eastern leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Trump called it a “big day for Boeing and American manufacturing” in a post on Truth Social that also cited Bangladesh’s plan to buy more Boeing planes. He said the sales would amount to tens of billions of dollars and support tens of thousands of American jobs.
The announcement came almost exactly a year after Turkish Airlines said it was buying another 225 Boeing jets following talks at the White House between Erdogan and Trump.
Turkish Airlines, based at Istanbul Airport, says it has a fleet of 514 aircraft, flies to more than 130 countries and carried 92.6 million passengers in 2025.
