Trump threatens trade halt unless Fed lowers rates
US President Donald Trump threatened on Friday to stop trading with countries with which the United States has a deficit unless the Federal Reserve lowers interest rates.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that the Fed should lower rates because the United States was “a much stronger credit” than recently. He added: “LOWER THE RATE OR I'LL STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT.”
