Trump Jr says Russian businessman paid for wedding parties

Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Trump said on September 14 that Russian businessman Umar Kremlev hosted two nights of celebrations after their wedding in the Bahamas in May.

The couple confirmed the payment in a jointly signed post on Bettina Trump's Instagram account, after ProPublica reported that Kremlev had paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for the parties. They described it as a generous wedding gift from a friend.

Kremlev heads the International Boxing Association, from which the International Olympic Committee severed links after warnings over financial governance and ethical concerns.

An International Boxing Association press release said Russian President Vladimir Putin presented Kremlev with an Order of Friendship award in April 2026. Russian investigative outlet Proekt has reported that Kremlev cultivated links with Russia's Federal Protective Service and is a member of the pro-Kremlin Night Wolves biker club.
